 The "RETVer NOLIMIT" problem in ADSM server version 2.1.0.7:

 Hi,

 when we used a RETVer value of 9999 the ARCHIVE function was obviously
 o.k., as we could see from the QUERY CONTENT command for the respective
 cartridge volume, which showed us all the ARCHIVEd files. Is is only the
 RETRIEVE function, that gives problems with a RETVer value of 1327 or
 greater.

 We installed the ADSM server version 2.1.0.7 last week, when the FTP
 server contained only the following three files for the ADSM server
 software fixes: aixsrv.v2r1m7.IP20646.README
                 aixsrv.v2r1m7.IP20646.README.ftp
                 aixsrv.v2r1m7.IP20646.smit
 I used the last file for the installation process with SMIT. The README
 files did not contain any information, that this ADSM server version is
 meant for AIX 3.2.5 and  n o t  for AIX 4.1.4. The first hint in that
 direction came from the IBM SE, when I reported the error. When I had a
 look into the FTP server yesterday, I found a completely different set
 of files: aixsrv.v2r1m7.IP20646.bff
           aixsrv.v2r1m7.README
           aixsrv.v2r1m7.README.ftp
           aixsrv.v2r1m7.U442918.bff
           aixsrv.v2r1m7.U442919.bff
           aixsrv.v2r1m7.U442924.bff
 Now the README file tells me, that I should use the version 2.1.5.7 of
 the ADSM server for AIX version 4, and not version 2.1.0.7, which is
 meant for AIX version 3.

 In the meantime IBM has let me know, that a fix for the bug will be
 part of the ADSM server level 08, which is supposed to be availlable
 by the end of May. At the moment I can not tell you if I could get rid
 of the problem by installing the three "aixsrv.v2r1m7.U4429__.bff" files
 on top of the "aixsrv.v2r1m7.IP20646.bff" file. The IBM information to
 wait till the end of May seems to speak against such an idea.
