Windows NT Scheduler
1996-04-18 16:04:18
I posted this query last week. Unfortunately, I had to shut down my machine the
very next day and only came back up yesterday. Apparently I got dropped off the
list due to the long outage and so I do not know if anybody had responded to it.
If so, I would be very appreciative if he/she can repost the item. Thanks in
advance for the assistance.
If you have run into the following problem that we are having with the Windows
NT
scheduler client and can offer a solution, we would appreciate it very much.
Server: AIX version 1.2.0.9
Client: Windows NT 2.1.0.2
Scheduler: Started in a command line window with the dsmc schedule command. This
window is then either left as is or minimized.
Problem: The scheduler would get hung in limbo and never seem to wake up to poll
the server or perform backups at the scheduled time. One symtom that we
have seen with an open window is that the timer stops decrementing.
Another symtom is that the window starts rolling after we restored the
window which had been minimized.
I have reported problem to IBM and verified that the way we are starting the
scheduler is valid, meaning that the scheduler does not have to be started as a
Window NT service. So far, we have not gotten any response other than running a
services trace.
Also, has anybodyelse noticed the dramatic increase in response time from the
ADSM level 2 support? Is this the result of a re-organization or down-sizing
that
we are just noticing?
