ADSM provides the means to archive data using the Archive Copy Group. With
this, you can specifiy the
destination - ARCHIVEPOOL.

Can anyone explain to me how I can achieve the following:

When I archive data, I want to ensure the most recent archives are located
on disk and older archives reside
on removable storage (e.g. optical disk).

With this scheme, if recently archived data is required, it can be quickly
retrieved from disk. Should it be necessary
to retrieve older data, it can either be found on the removable storage (if
it is loaded) or from an off-site copy. In this
case, a longer retrieval time is permitted.

I have the following questions:

1. Is the management of data between disk and removable storage completely
handled by ADSM?

2. If not, do I need to define the disk as BACKUPPOOL, and use ADSM backup,
and the removable storage as
ARCHIVEPOOL, and use ADSM archive. Is it then possible to archive from the
backuppool?

TIA
