Re: Character special files

Hi,
documentation (User's Guide and Reference for UNIX (Release 1.2) and Using the
UNIX Backup-Archive Clients (Version 2) says:
"...It does not back up character special files, block special files or FIFO
special files ...". So far ...
One possible way is to produce an archive-file (e.g. tar or cpio) of your
/dev directory
example: find /dev -print | cpio -ocvBO /home/adsmbackups/devdir
To get the FIFO's that are spread over the other filesystems and directories,
can be caught with
find / -type p -print | cpio -ocvBO /home/adsmbackups/fifos
This could be automagically done by cron.
