Andy's right... the first time you use ADSM after changing PASSWORDACCESS to
GENERATE, you need to go in to ADSM interactively... it will prompt you for
the password. After that, everything should work fine. Don't forget to
recycle your DSMC SCHEDULE process also.

I don't have any experience with this setting, but I'll take a shot at it:
1) After updating the DSM.SYS file, did you shut down and restart ADSM?
Changes to the option files don't take effect until you restart ADSM.
2) I suspect you'll be asked once for the password, after which time it
will be encrypted to a file, and read from that file thereafter.
3) Do you have the latest AIX client maintenance? I don't know whether there
were any prior problems with the PASSWORDACCESS GENERATE option, but
having the latest code is usually a good idea.
No magic, just some wild guesses.
