People here using the ADSM mac client have seen this problem with
unrecognised domain names a LOT.  Retyping the entire domain statement
usually fixes the problem.  One trick is to open the ADSM Preferences
file from Microsoft Word, turning on Show <paragraph> under the View
menu, and looking at the domain statement to see if there are any funny
characters.
  Brett: any word on the idea of a more mac-like configuration interface
for specifying options rather than editing the ADSM Preferences file?
