You do get timestamps from the activity log.  You can setup a cronjob
that will fetch it everyday or every hour or whatever.  The command
is a bit cryptic, however if you use something like the following:

q act begint=03:00

This will bring all activity log entries since 3:00AM.  You have to make
sure that your retention period is sufficiently high or it will get trimmed
away.

Be sure to use the linemode interface (not the graphics one) to do this.
