My Suse 9 net-snmp agent works just fine with no special configuration,
just rocommunity names and entries for syslocation and syscontact.

I pulled the PMR and after reading it, I don't think that the agent not
responding to mib-2 data is the issue.  According to the text in the PMR,
the Level 2 guys had the caller do an snmpwalk and a netmon trace, and they
saw that the agent did not give the same responses in both cases.   It
sounds like maintenance is needed on your net-snmp agent.

 I compared the snmpwalk to the table gets that netmon was doing and saw
 that the SNMP agent on the node was not returning correct IP addresses
 for the node.

 Customer will address with net-snmp support or his SuSE supplier.

 Closing PMR with customer concurrence.
