Drop them how and for what purpose? And what kind of events?

If these are NetView events, just unmanage the node or interfaces.

If they are external events, then you could use an MLM to suppress them if you route events to the MLM first.

If you don't have an MLM, you can suppress the display of the events, but this is always a bit risky if you make a habit of it, because you can hide the source of a performance problem this way. Suppressed events are still processed all the way up to the point where they are logged or displayed, which is the last thing that happens to them.

But to hide the display of the event you can use either of two mechanisms.

(1) You can configure trapd to ignore (don't log or display) an event. That keeps it out of the trapd.log and out of the event display. Basically you would use xnmtrap to make a copy of the event definition in question, giving it a new name, put the hostname or IP address in the event sources list in the middle of the panel, and change the event category to "Don't log or Display" .

(2)To just keep it out of the event display, you can build simple event filter or use different ruleset rather than forwardall.rs

Hope this helps,

[NV-L] Ignore events from a specific host

Good morning-

Just a quick question. Is there anyway to tell the netview server to ignore/drop events from a specific ip/host? Well, without removing him from the database and map. But then wouldn't the Netview server receive traps and just say that the trap is unknown?

Thanx.
