Things turn blue for only a few reasons that I can think of:

1) The thing underneath them has been unmanaged
2) The thing underheath them is gone

If, for instance, you were to select a network symbol and unmanage it, you would perhaps inadvertently unmanage all of the equipment under it. All of the other views that those obects appear in would then turn blue. So you might want to drill down and see what the condition of the underlying objects is.

Also keep in mind that if you unmanage/manage a bunch of stuff, the status is momentarily set to unknown (managed but no status yet) and if netmon were to fail, that would leave them blue. If it were a whole lot of stuff, netmon might not have caught up yet.

There is also the possibility of massive corruption, but I'm sure you have a good backup from a few days ago, right?

[NV-L] Multiple objects on IP Map with Unknown status

Good morning all-

Day before yesterday, got a call from our NOC that objects on the Netview map were turning blue (status:unknown).  Haven't been able to find anything in the logs to indicate what may be going on.

Netveiew version 7.1.3 on AIX 5.1

Any suggestions?

Thanx.

Mikemillion
