Delay what? Delay the status polling? No. That's a separate issue from
the config check. The config checks run along side the status polling and
the time they take should not interfere with status polling. Delay the
config check, which happens only once per day by default? Yes. But how
long a time-out are we talking about? A few seconds per node?

As I see it, if you have devices which should never be SNMP polled you have
two choices. You can raise the config check interval just for them to some
really high value (say once a month?) in xnmsnmpconf, or you can indicate
in the seed file devices which should never be SNMP polled using a caret
(^) and an address range. At least that's my understanding.

Per previous posts and documentation, Netview will use ICMP only to poll
NON-SNMP nodes for status. However, will it still try to perform a
configuration check (which is done via SNMP) per snmp.conf's time intervals
for "Configuration Polling Intervals".

I will probably be faced with adding several nodes to be monitored that
will not support SNMP (security reasons). My concern/question is, would
these non-SNMP nodes cause netmon to slow down waiting on SNMP to time out
when it is restarted and it performs timed configuration checks. If I
understand correctly, netmon will still check nodes for SNMP when it is
restarted and during Configuration polling intervals.

Could someone please advise.

Thanks,
