Re: [nv-l] NetView HSRP and Admin Down Interface Question

I don't have time to explain all that,
but I will put in one thing that I figured out recenty: the hsrp
status poll, during which netmon checks to see if an interface has moved
from one device to another and which occurrs every 5 minutes, has
7 retries. If something is interfering with your SNMP access to those
interfaces, that can generate a LOT of authentication failure traps.

| [nv-l] NetView HSRP and Admin
Down Interface Question |
|
All,
Question #1
Can someone explain in detail how NetView detects HRSP
interfaces and how it handles HSRP switchovers? Please also let me
know if there are traps/events generated when HSRP switchovers occur. Also,
what parameters need to be set for netmon in order for HSRP interfaces
to be interpreted correctly?
Question #2
On Cisco routers Administratively Down interfaces have
a pink (User1) status color in NetView. Is the use of User1 for Admin
Down interfaces specific to Cisco devices? In other words, is User1
and User2 vendor definable? How does NetView detect Admin Down interfaces?
TIA,
Stephanie
