Fawad,
If you want to give it a try:
netmon -M -1
loadhosts < whatever
nmdemandpoll hostname
wait for it to disappear
netmon -M 0
Then grep for the ip address and hostname in
/usr/OV/log/netmon.trace. It should say right
in there why it wad deleted.

Bill, I had already tried that but no go. Most of our routers have loopback addresses with a 32 bit mask. I have several other routers that have two entries in the Netview database, one with hostname as selection name and other with loopback address with selection name. They have no problem being managed by Netview. But there are these couple of campus routers (like the one in my example) that just don't want to stay in Netview.

Fawad,

Notice that the object printout you provided is for a network, not a device. If this existed before your add, Netview will notice you have 2 objects with the same IP address and will do what you described, delete the object.

Delete this network object and then try adding the device again. It won't hurt anything, since the interface count is 0 and the netmask is 255.255.255.255, nothing can be contained in it.

        Good luck,

        Bill

I add a router using loadhosts. I can do ovobjprint on the hostname
as selection name right away, and it shows all attributes just as
expected. I do ovobjprint again, and its gone! I do ovobjprint on
the loopback address as selection name, and it shows (but not all
attributes - see below in blue).

    Strange, very strange! Any thoughts?

BTW, when ovobjprint works the first time with hostname as selection
name, isSNMPsupported is FALSE and SNMPAgent attribute shows as
    Unset(0).
