Most snmp agents include a trap handler. You would
need to check the configuration for the trap handler to
find out how to execute code when a certain trap arrives.
I have configured exactly this(as well as some firewall
rules) on my Linux router at home, so I know its possible,
and I would assume its possible on AIX, but you will have
to check the docs.

Hi list
Does anyone know if it's possible to send a shutdown "command" via SNMP to
an AIX machine? I need this because I have two redundant APC UPSs and I
want to shutdown the machine only when both UPSs send upsOnBattery trap
(I'll do a rls and I was thinking to run a snmpset on aix machine for
shutdown)
any (other) ideea?
thanks
Lucian
