RE: [nv-l] Location.conf

Chris,
I've
been playing with location.conf quite a bit lately and I've run into the same
problem. Creating a new map will read the new location.conf file, but
because the objects exist they won't show up on the IP Map and you get the
errors in the log. I used rediscovery to fix the problem for a while, but
lately I've just been selecting Automatic Map generation (Administer/Server
Setup/Control/Restart automatic map generation). For me I only have the
default map and I'm trying to tailor the location.conf to populate locations
without any manual intervention. This has been working very well for
me.

Would this
"issue" also prevent new additions into the location.conf file from being seen
on the Map. Meaning: I have a
functioning Location.conf been running a while. We just added another
site (EUROPE_EVPN) I stopped netview (ovstop) vi'd the location.conf to add the EUROPE_EVPN as a site and then listed
all the citys and devices under it so it looks something like this.
International 255 Site EUROPE_EVPN 255 Site International
Mauepas 1.1.1.1 Site
EUROPE_EVPN Chatearoux
2.2.2.2 Site EUROPE_EVPN
when I
start netview again (/etc/netnmrc) the GUI, the site EUROPE_EVPN does not get
created, nor any of the others mentioned. Is this a result of the "issue" above or is this just the fact that
location.conf only works "once" on initial discovery?
Thanks CHris

Location.conf |
I would call Support. I have seen this at 7.1.4, although it worked
fine at 7.1.3. To work around it, I have rediscovered completely. That does
work. The problem occurred when I did 'File..New
Map'.
