For AIX folks (with apologies to Nicolas for being no help :-)

Apar IY05754: Check ulimits. Be sure ulimit -n is *not* unlimited. The AIX default of 2000 seems ok. If you prefer higher, use 32768. If you change it in /etc/security/limits, schedule a reboot and then check it befor installing NetView 7.1.4.

If you copy a complete /usr/OV from production to test to perform migration testing, be sure to remove /usr/OV/conf/ovors from the test box after the copy before the migration test. It will be rebuilt.

If the migration fails, keep /usr/OV.back.v7r1 and then remove NetView before attempting migration again because migration can fail after the odm is updated, which can cause future migrations to fail too. The next attempt will use the existing /usr/OV.back.v7r1. Back up /usr/OV.back.v7r1 off-system after it is created because if there is a catastrophic system failure during the migration, the backup is a convenient starting point.

Worked fine for me. Done it several times on AIX 5.1 and once on
Windows 2K Server. If you use AIX, remember to change $LANG to en_US
rather than EN-US - it's in the release notes.
