Re: [nv-l] Auto layout and Location.conf

The is how I understood how location.conf works. What I am doing is updating the location.conf file and then under serversetup going and regenerating the new map. What I did find out now is exactly what you said. Now after I update the location.conf I simply create a new map. But I instantly want to turn off auto layout because it becomes unmanageable, right after I turn it off though it stops placing the devices in the correct containers that are defined in location.conf and simply places those devices in the NOHA. Should I just let auto layout run a while so it can add them to the proper containers?

Not exactly correct:
The location, conf file is used when a new map is created. If you have an
existing map and then create or update the location.conf, objects will not
be moved into their new locations. However when you create a new map, the
NetView database is re-read and the map is created according to the rules
specified in the location.conf.
Auto layout is a feature that enables NetView to lay out the maps in the
way it sees fit. If auto layout is off, you do get a new objects area from
which you can drag nodes to wherever you want on the submap
Hope that helps

When Auto layout is off for the IP Internet Map the devices are not placed
according to the Location.conf file. Is this right? And if I turn on Auto
layout will it send the proper devices to the proper holding points?
