Fawad,

I am running nvmaputil.sh directly from the command line. My environment
settings should be correct....Nvenvironment was set via .profile at login.

I've seen the delays in the past as well, but no more than a minute. The
server that Netview is on is a screamer. CPU Load average for ovtopmd is
usually around 0.01 and ovwdb is 0.7

I'll keep digging. If I have to open up a call with support, I will post the
results.

Thanks

Couple of comments:

1. Yes, you need to either have R/W map open or netviewd running in R/W mode
for nvmaputil.sh to work. Though I have seen problems with netviewd, but
always works if R/W default is open.

2. If you are calling nvmaputil.sh from a script, does it work directly from
the command line?

3. I have seen delays of up to several minutes, depending on how busy your
Netview server is, before the map and databases are updated.

I'm sure all you need is a R/W map opened OR netviewd running in R/W mode. I
successfully performed nvmaputil.sh commands in a test environment without
the netviewd running....just the native R/W map. I'll probably open up a
case with support unless anybody has anything to add. I assume its either
something with my environment or Java.

If I am not mistaken, the interface that allows for this is the web client.
You must have netviewd up and running in read-write mode for it to work. I
may be incorrect and if I am, someone please let me know. If this is
the case, and doing it without netviewd running, does not produce an error,
you should open a case with support.
