I checked DNS and we have a seperate host name for the HSRP addresses. (ex. rtr-HSRP).  Will removing the DNS entries automaticly fix netview or should I remove the objects and have netview rediscover them?

Do you have HSRP implemented on the routers?  I had the same result when we erroneously included the 'standby' ip address configured in DNS.  When the address moved, NetView renamed the routers just like your example.  The fix is to not have the 'standby' ip address in DNS at all.

[nv-l] Routers with wrong hostname

Netview 7.1.3/ W2K / SQL 2000

Hello list,

I have 2 routers in one location both with different host names defined in DNS with both reverse/forward lookup.  I am having an issue where one router takes the host name of the other and that second one has no host name only an IP address for the object name.  Is there a way to correct this? I have SNMP polling enabled for all routers.

Thanks.
