Re: [nv-l] Can MLM Receive, Reformat, and Send Traps?

I guess it is once about every 5 years that I can disagree with James
Shanks. The question was: can MLM run a script due to a received trap.
The answer is actually yes. :-)
You would need to define the received trap in the MLM Filter Throttle
table. You then have three potential times to run a command. You have a
"matched command" when a trap matches a filter. You have an "armed
command" that can kick off any time that the throttle boundary is crossed.
You also have a "disarmed command" which will run when the defined
throttle is disarmed. You have a ton of environment variables that put
all the trap information available to you in the script. All of this is
nicely documented in the User's Guide.
To read more about it, open the Mid-Level Manager User's Guide.
Go to Chapter 9 MLM Tables -------->Filters--------->Matched, Armed, and
Disarmed Command Environment Variables
Yes, you can regenerate new traps since MLM does install a "snmptrap"
command.
