Yup - by default SNMP uses UDP not TCP. You will also need the return path open. This is for your SNMP GETs / SETs. If you also want TRAPs through (and I assume you do), you need UDP/162 open to your NetView server also.
Cheers,
Jane

I have a need to monitor a couple of cisco switches which are on the other
side of a PIX firewall, I have asked to have port 161 TCP opened up for
that purpose, do I need to also request UDP on 161 as well ?

Thanks
