---------------------------------
DCF Document ID: 1064557 - IBM Tivoli NetView: NetView UNIX variable
NV_NETMON_IGNORE_RESP_SNMPADDR
Problem Desc: What does the variable NV_NETMON_IGNORE_RESP_SNMPADDR
actually mean?

Solution: The variable NV_NETMON_IGNORE_RESP_SNMPADDR = TRUE in the
"netnmrc.pre" file means to ignore the different SNMP addresses that
responded from a SNMP agent.

Normally, netmon will attempt to change the SNMP address for a node to the
response PDU's source address if it differs from the request PDU's
destination address. This enhances netmon's performance and improves the
accuracy of the SNMP address field maintained in the object and topology
database. Setting this to TRUE will cause netmon not to update this value
based on this logic.

This new functionality was added as part of v7 APAR IY26119 and is
available in v7.1.1 and later releases. It is also available in 6.0.3 if
you apply the efix for APAR IY30894.
---------------------------------

The var can also be changed in /usr/OV/conf/netmon.conf:
---------------------------------
# If the SNMP agent returns a different SNMP address, set to TRUE to ignore
# it, FALSE (default) to use it in future.
#NV_NETMON_IGNORE_RESP_SNMPADDR=FALSE
---------------------------------

We have instaled Netview 7.11 and AIX 4.3.3. ML-10.
It is received the following trap:
...............N SNMP Addrees changed to "aa.bb.cc.dd"
This happens for Cisco Routers.
The address change fron the RDSi IP address to the Ethernet address
What is the reason?
