if "hostname" resolves to the first name in your /etc/hosts..then you are
ok. the second name is an "alias". If it resolves to the alias right
now, then you want to flip those two names. This gives lookup and
reverse-lookup to the same thing. For example the "alias" resolves to the
"ipaddr", but the "ipaddr" resolves to the "hostname". For the NetView
server, he must have both lookups resolve to each other.
-----------------------------------
ipaddr hostname alias
-----------------------------------

After verifying /etc/hosts from above, are you allowed to recycle the
NetView application?

Shutdown all maps
I would use "ovstop nvsecd" to stop the daemons
move your /etc/resolv to another filename (while NV is down)
restart NetView "/etc/netnmrc"
start GUI

should now be functional.
