Hi Richard,
Also in the Ruleset Editor you have the ability to do a "RESET on MATCH".
This is where you can get a NODE DOWN event and then set a 10:00 timer. If
a NODE UP event comes in with the 10:00 minutes then the event will get
dropped and should not get forwarded to TEC.

The could be a solution for you.

Richard, we do this through a shell script. When a node down trap is
received, a nodedown script is invoked via nodedown ruleset that retries
ping five times with a delay of 1 minute each, just to make sure it is not
just a reboot, before it forwards it to TEC.

I am new to netview. I have a rule that queries Smartsets first, traps
second (up-down node or interface), and then forwards event to TEC. My
problem is with a node that bounces once or twice, being forwarded to TEC. I
would like to put in a filter that holds the event for 10 minutes before
forwarding. I am not sure how to do this. Do I use thresholds, Set State,
or something else. I do not know what the attributes numbers (1-50) mean, or
how to use them. Can someone help?
