Thanks Jane and Hendrik
it think that was the problem. It works when I delete the interface and start a
demand poll on the node afterwards.

And yes, I did this on a lot of nodes at the same time so I think its the
problem you wrote Hendrik.

Thanks a lot

Michel

Interfaces

Hi Michel,
I have seen this behaviour with NV712 at several custs sites.
The problem was, that the IP Status of the interface object remained Up or
Down and wasn't
set to Unmanaged as it should. Nevertheless the ipmap showed the object in
the "unmanaged-color".
This happened mostly if a lot of interface objects were set to unmanaged at
the same time.

Sometimes a repeat of manage/unmanage for the single interface-object
helped to set also the
IP Status to Unmanaged.

Finaly the behaviour disappeared at custs site after installation of NV713
+ testfix package and IY35241.
Note: The testfix package isn't the same as the FixPack1 !)

Check this if this is valid for you (IP Status of the interface object in
object-db).
Ask your support team.

MfG./ Best regards
Hendrik Zahn (L2 EMEA Tivoli NetView Support)

I only have 1 Map, the Default one I have open all the time :-/
Is it possible that it conflicts if I got at last 1 more Map open (same
Default Map but in Read only)?
Over ovobjprint -s I get the following (cut down to the Exists/Managed
Part)

ovobjprint -s node

14 OVW Maps Exists 1
15 OVW Maps Managed 1

Michel,
I still suspect you may have other MAPs (not submaps) where your
interfaces are managed. Did you try the ovobjprint -s command? From
the GUI, do a File -> Open Map and see what maps there are. I have just
done a quick test on my NV 7.1.3 to unmanage 1 interface of a router.
If you just do this on 1 map, it stays in the ping poll list.; if you
unmanage it on all maps, it disappears from the ping poll list.

Cheers,
Jane

like this solution cause this means to activate SNMP polls for more then
1'000 Nodes (each with at least 4 Interfaces. 2 reachable via ICMP and 2
only via SNMP). Anyone got some better Ideas? I just want to reduce the
events I get.
