RE: [nv-l] Copying Netview "/usr/OV" directorie to another server (image)
2002-12-12 21:23:13
Hi,
if i understand, i must
install a brand new installation of netview 7.1 before
doing what you tell me?
If
not, Can I do this?
1-
copy
the entire “/usr/OV” directories in my new
server
2-
overwrites
/usr/OV/conf (with the tar file) in my new
server
3-
overwrites
/usr/OV/databases (with the pax file) in my new server
+ reset_ci command...
And
by this way I won’t be oblige to install a new installation of netview …
Thanks
Dominic
This should qualify as a FAQ if there were such an
entity for NetView . Try doing this to restore the files after you copy
them to /home/bevans/ovdb.tar. (Choose your own file names).
# Stop the NetView daemons for the duration of the
restoration.
ovstop
# stop the NetView daemons # Restore the local configuration and databases
from the primary server images # Tar is used for the configuration and PAX
is used for the databases because the # databases are "sparse" files
requiring special treatment for restoration. tar -xvf
/home/bevans/conf.tar pax -rp e -f /home/bevans/ovdb.tar #
restart the network daemon
ovstart
# Reset the system names in the
databases /usr/OV/service/reset_ci mapadmin -u
$HOSTNAME

Hi all,
We plan to upgrade Netview 7.1 (aix system) to Netview 7.1.3, but before
upgrading i need to copy
my Netview 7.1 in production (all "/usr/OV" file system) to our
pre-productoin server AND after that i will upgrade to 7.1.3
my question is
It is posible to do a tar file of all "/usr/OV" directorie and untar this
file in another server and Netview will work again ?
if yes, what attention should i take after or before copying this image to
the new server
(i mean hostname variable to change, configuration file to change...)?
Thanks
