This is a multipart message in MIME format.
All you have to do is copy /usr/OV/app-default/Nvevents in each user's
$HOME and change that copy rather than the global one.
We document this procdure in the Admin Guide I believe.
Then each user will have an indepenedent Nvevents environment.

You should not edit the Workspaces though you probably could if you were
careful. But we won't support that if you have problems.

Subject: [NV-L] How to configure per user correlation rulesets?

Hello

My configuration:
----------------------------------------
OS Platform: AIX 4.3.3
Tivoli NetView for UNIX for 6.0.2

There is 2 user environment (in future possibly many more). Both users
have
separate system (AIX) id and separate map. There is additionally separate
backup procedure that automatically close working graphical interfaces,
stops NetView processes, creates file systems backup on tapes, and then
starts all processes, and start one graphical interface. I'm trying (up to
now unsuccessfully) configure NetView environment to have for all users
separate open dynamic workspaces (event window) with different rulesets.
In
fact it's quite easy to start such a new window manually via Create ->
Dynamic Workspace menu (and then specify what ruleset to use). Anyway - I
need this to be done automatically after opening NetView graphical
interface (especially when considering automatic backup procedure) and
with
different ruleset for different user.

I made several unsuccessful attempts to this issue:
- By simple editing variable nvevents.correlationRule in
/usr/OV/app-defaults/Nvevents file. But this is default setting for every
newly open workspace - so not what I need.
- By putting environment variable (i.e.$USER) into
nvevents.correlationRule
mentioned above. Unfortunately it seems that NetView does not evaluate
such
a variables - error windows while opening event says "Could not open
correlation session. Invalid ruleset name: $USER.rs). I expected that it
could work because there is $HOME variable in this file in many places.
- My other idea was to set variables nvevents.saveEnvOnExit and
loadEnvOnInit to True, then manually open another Dynamic Workspace with
desirable correlation rule, then save environment. But here we have two
problems: 1. There is still open window with default correlation rule - I
don't need this one. I think I that it could be possible to workaround
this
by manually editing Workspace file but... (see2) -> 2. Saving works - i
can see all setting saved in $HOME/NvEnvironment/Workspaces (text file).
Unfortunately reopening NetView does not bring saved environment back -
again appears events window with default correlation rule. No idea why...

Thank in advance for any ideas.

Regards
