Hi Leslie!
Is the nmslog file already existing in the directory?
Syslog doesn't create automatically the log file, but wants the file already
present.
If it's the case, try to "touch nmslog" and refresh syslogd.
If this is an obvious suggestion you already knew...this were my two cents!
