Larry,
event -h will give you a list of program-switches.

event -l will give you a list of all NetView events including
node-down.

If you happen to use the MKS toolkit...
event -l | grep -i down

What is the correct "event" command to simulate a Node down or Interface
down?

And also, is there any documentation on the "event" command's switches?

I've seen it mentioned here before but can not locate in the archives.
