You should check the smux entries in your /etc/snmpd.conf file and be sure they
match the entries in the /etc/snmpd.peers file. I think there is some
information in the man page for snmpd.conf on smux entries.

James,
Would you take a look at this from the snmpd.log. I turned on trace at 3 for
snmpd, refreshed and did an ovstart on trapgend and this is what it logged.
I have since turned off trace and refreshed. I know your busy, if you can
shed any light it would be appreciated. It's in note pad format.

Trapgend? He is a smux peer and I would look in the snmpd.log to
see what is
going on there as well. snmpd is up, isn't it?
But trapgend has nothing to do with communication server. You don't
mean
tralertd daemon, do you? He would most definitely have a comm
server dependency
because Service Point does.

I haven't had a problem with this (trapgend), daemon ever. Only
change I
made to the system was migrate/install of Communications Server
Ver.5.
System is AIX 4.3.2 and Netview 5.1. Rebooted this weekend this
daemon won't
come up. Turned all tracing on only noticeable message in
trapgend.log is
something about youLoseBig.
I opened a pmr, no luck yet. Wondering if anyone had a similar
situation or
suggestions.
Thanks
