I've had this problem for some time but haven't had time to investigate how
to correct the icons in router collections. I tried the fix and it worked
fine on the server view all icons show with correct symbols but now
operators monitoring router collections using the web browser are missing
80% of the routers they once saw before. As the operators move the mouse
pointer across the map the icon names appear in the info window at bottom
of browser. How can I get the icons to appear again?

This qualifies as a frequently asked question, so I'm copying
netview AT tivoli DOT com.

When nodes are first discovered, depending on the timing, it is possible
for the
nvcold daemon, which populates the collections, to grab a node before it
has
been fully defined. So it will show up in the IP map with the correct
symbol,
but remain with the generic symbol in the Collections submap. To correct
this,
you must force nvcold to revisit the node. In the Collections submap,
select
the 'egg' for the collection, then, from the top menu bar,
Edit..Delete..From
this Submap'. The egg will disappear, then immediately reappear, blue. When
you
open it, nvcold will re-evaluate it and populate it with the correct nodes
with
the correct symbols. This is usually only a problem when Collections are
defined
before a wholesale discovery of the network.

Cordially,
