Hello Peter,

an interface status is set to user1if the MIB2 ifAdminStatus is down. This
is the case for interfaces set to shutdown and unfortunately also for
"AutoDialer" interfaces in the standby mode (and sometimes they are even
critical). The ip adress of these interfaces have the appendix AD so they
are not pinged.

The Token Ring interfaces are probably set to shutdown or there are double
ip adresses.

Hello there,
A funny thing occurs if NetView discovers an "AutoDialer" interface (can
bee seen if the interface is selected and Modify/Describe - Object ) why
is this automatically set to user1 (status), why can't this device be
pinged.
This happens with BRI, Ethernet, Token Ring and Serial Lines as well!
What's behind the scene with NetView and these "AD"-interfaces, all the
routers are cisco devices!
Best regards
    Peter
