I have looked at the code for nvtecia (and so can you -- it's a script) and
I don't find a -start option, though the -reload would accomplish what you
want if the forwarding is turned off.

There is no status command that I am aware of. I guess the assumption is
that you can look at TEC (that's why you are forwarding) and see whether
anything is coming in. If not, you can do the -reload and then go look at
/etc/Tivoli/tec/cache to see if caching is going on.

If you think there needs to be a status command, then please forward your
request in a note to netview AT tivoli DOT com.

Is there a way on the NetView system to see if the forwarding to TEC
process
is up? I know the command "nvtecia -stop" and "nvtecia -start" stops and
starts the process, but what command shows you the existing status?
