There are scripts for creating both the forward address and reverse files
in /usr/samples/tcpip on AIX 4.2.
The forward file is called hosts.awk and the reverse file is addrs.awk. I
have been able to use these successfully in the past.

I use an old script "hosts_to_named" borrowed off an old UNIX box. I've
had pretty good luck with it over the years. It basically builds the DNS
records by reading the /etc/hosts file. However, you might have to tweek
it
somewhat when it comes mail exchanger records, because it creates a MX
record for each host. It's not a problem for us, but, it might be for you.
I'll be glad to send a copy to you or anyone.

I found that putting DNS in the same server is running NetView,
the times to start to receive netmon traps, after restart Netview,
decrease dramatically. But manage DNS changing files it
´s a little heavy
and easy to make mistakes, so does anybody know if there is any
interfase to admintrate DNS in AIX 4.2.1?
Thanks . . .
