I have seen the following steps indicated for this:-

1. odadmin odlist add_hostname_alias 1 <Address> <newName>
2. Change the hostname of the server
3. Change the DNS to reflect the hostname
4. reboot
5. Start the Administrator's desktop
6. Start the Netview daemons, without starting the GUI
7. Run "mapadmin -u <newHostname>
8. Start the Netview GUI

But my problem is that the client has changed the hostname
without follwing this procedure. HELP...URGENT!

Thanks,

Simon Long

Hi,

In the event that a customer changes their hostname without taking the
normal prescribed steps, what are the options? The platform I am
referring to is Solaris 2.6 running Netview V5.1. I would be interested

in knowing of ways of performing the following:-

1. Recovering the Framework element.
2. The steps for belatedly recovering on the Netview side of things -
please note that I don't mind if it is easiest to regenerate the maps
and databases from scratch.

Thanks in advance,
