This particular wildcard will not work because of the way the seed file is
parsed. The first character in each line must be either a number or a valid
hostname character. If it is a number, the entry is assumed to be an
address. If not, it is assumed to be a hostname and netmon will try to
resolve *.*.*.254 as such and generate an error.

You might try entering a separate line for each different number you have
in the first octet:

###.*.*.254
###.*.*.254
###.*.*.254
###.*.*.254
...

Hello,

We've been running Netview 4.1 using a seedfile(we have specified a
range in the seedfile so we only discover the nodes listed in the
seedfile).  Now we have a request to add new node discovery for routers
only.  Our standard is to have xxx.xxx.xxx.254 be the ethernet interface
for the router.

Will the following entry in the seedfile work to accomplish this??

*.*.*.254

Or is there a better way to do this?
