Hi,
You need to know your tape drives troughput. You can see on the jobs status in
the activity monitor.
Then you need to know your HBAs performance, and media server bus bandwidth.
You can calculate how many media servers to handle your tape drives.
Another consideration is your network throughput if you do network backup
instead of using fc connection from your client. You can di ftp test to get the
performance.
And it is good to know your clients' backup/archive throughput as well.
Also you need to check your buffers setting to maximize your tape drive
troughput.
