My experience with Error 6 errors are with database backups, usually Oracle but 
I've seen it from time to time with MSSQL. The agent usually leaves a log file 
that explains what the real problem is.

In windows, it's in the C:\Program Files\Veritas\NetBackup\logs\
Depending on your database type, it's bpdb(something). You may need to run the 
mklogdir script to generate them.
In Unix/Linux (I've only used Oracle), it generates a .out file wherever your 
RMAN script is located.

First place I would look is if there are child processes. Very often the parent 
fails with a 6 but the child will tell you something more specific.
