Where you using this box as destaging (DSSU) Media Server ? If so, what were

We have been using the Sun Fire x4500 (the pre-cursor to the x4540)
as a media server for over 3 years. We originaly used RH Linux
and then switched to Solaris x86_64. These machines are awesome.
We have the 4x1Gb nics trunked together and regularly see 275MB/s
and better for backup performance.

If it were not for our replication requirements for much of
our backup environment we would probably have more of these
units as backup targets.

Good Luck,
Ken
