IMHO

Client side compression takes more overhead on the client.

Hardware compression puts the overhead on the tape drive.

(never use both! Never never)

I use hardware compression, tape drives do it just fine. And nothing special
to do for restores.

Dear experts,

What are the advantages & disadvantages between using compressed and
uncompressed backup in Symantec NetBackup / Backup Exec?
Especially when doing a restore from compressed backup image, besides it will
take longer to restore, will it need a different method of restoration?
Please give me some explanation about each of compression by hardware &
software.
I'm afraid that we need some different steps to restore from compressed backup
images.

Thank you for helping.
