We're running 6.5.5, and use a similar command from within a script, and it 
works fine.  Here's whats in our script:

$VMCHANGE -vh $volumeHost -res -m $tape -mt $thisMT -rn $robotNumber -rh 
$robotHost -rt none -e -sec 1


Looks like the big difference is that we specify the -rn and -rh.  I've tried 
running this without -rn and -rh, and I get syntax errors;  perhaps this is the 
issue for you?

OK, so this has me stumped.  I used to use the following command in a
script to automatically eject some tapes for me (for my operators
actually):

            vmchange -vh $B_SERVER -res -m $clnmedia -mt hcart_clean -rt
none -v --- -e -sec 1         (worked as of 5.0 but no more?)

 

It worked like a champ, it would eject old cleaning tapes once they had
been used up.  However, this command no longer works and I'm not able to
figure out a way to eject tapes without some sort of user intervention.
Does anyone have any thoughts about if this is still possible?

 

NetBackup 6.5.5 and 7 is what I'm running...
