Our environment, HP-UX 11-31 currently running on a
DataDomain VTL, one master and media server running NetBackup 6.5.2. This
is going to be a tough one to explain so bear with me. We were rushed to
move our data center to a new location and are not quite done with the
move. Things were not as smooth or controlled as we would have
liked. During this time, we also migrated from a Surstore 20/700 tape
library to a Data Domain VTL. Our 20/700 tape library wasn’t moved
as we are scheduled to get a library from another site but do not have it yet
so at this time I don’t have a physical tape library connected to NBU.
We also went from a master / media server (hqhp3) to a master with a separate
media server (yos_sam1).
I had some tapes that I had duplicated and left the primary
in the library as we get quite a few restore requests from one group. Before
disconnecting the tape library I duplicated these tapes again to the Data
Domain VTL. I have made the Data Domain copies the primary copy using the
bpdulicate –npc command. Now for my problem, I’m trying a
restore and it is pointing to the correct VTL tape and waiting for recourses.
It is saying that the Tape media server is not active but it is indicating that
the server it is waiting for is hqhp3 which is my master server, not the media
server. I have done other restores from the VTL during testing with no
issues. I’m thinking part of the problem may be because of the
duplicated images but am not sure.
Below is what I am seeing:
