PHSS_##### would indicate an HP-UX patch
rather than a Veritas patch though it might be an HP patch specifically
designed for Veritas stuff.
Interestingly I found no mention of this
patch at itrc.hp.com (either the PHSS_38697 you wrote or the PHSS_38696 it said
it installed).
You should be able to find details of the
patch (if it is in fact installed) under /var/adm/sw/products/PHSS_38696 or
PHSS_38697.

upgrades and HP-UX 11.31
Does anyone have any idea what this patch is 'PHSS_38697'? I've been
running LiveUpdate on 11.31 servers and can see the following in a installpbx
log file in /tmp
[11-05-09-14:14:43] Found VRTSicsco version 1.3.25.1 installed
[11-05-09-14:14:43] Checking if the installed version (1.3.25.1) equals the
required version (1.3.25.1)
[11-05-09-14:14:43] Versions match, will install patch

[11-05-09-14:14:47] Installing PHSS_38696
Looks like another arbitrary decision from Symantec, with no reference
in readme or installation docs (well not that i can see)
I know there are some issues around VRTSpbx and Solaris servers but
that is just a requirement to have an up to date version
Any advice or pointing to useful docs would be appreaciated?? don't
like using LiveUpdate and this just adds to it
