To Rule NetBackup out, you would have to rule any other services that
could be running (ie: AV especially if its configured to scan the
Exchange Stores and logs - Bad idea by the way!).

How large is the store that was dismounted? I did see a problem on Ex2k
itself some time ago, very similar with NTBackup. As a result I think it
had something to do with the log files (Although I cannot be 100% sure
now).

Anyhow, try NTBackup as a test. If you can. Even if you can do a FILE
LEVEL Backup to another Drive using NTBackup, at least it will help
prove where the problem may be.

Finally, are you running any NBU Update? NBU 6.5.1, 6.5.2 or 6.5.3?
