[Veritas-bu] Netbackup backing up a dpm server
2009-03-13 19:19:13
I am backing up my DPM 2006 server as if it were a giant file server. I am
using VSS to backup open files. I am backing up each replica individually. I
have up to 8 streams (35 replicas) multiplexed to a tape target for the Full
because it keeps a tape drive busy enough. For INC backups I send it to a dssu
then duplicate to tape. I also backup the DPM server without the replicas as I
would with any other Windows server (don't cross mount points).
I tried to backup some of the bigger replicas using Flashbackup as each replica
is in its own volume. But NBU Flashbackup doesn't like the GUID in the volume
reference. I recently found if I also assign a drive letter to the replica
volume, I can then use Flashbackup of the volumes. So I haven't tested it for
performance yet. Thats for after I get back from vacation. 8)
