Hi Renee. NFS based Datastores are supported with NetBackup and VCB.
The support requirements are as follows:
NetBackup 6.5.2 (or later)
VCB Framework 1.1 (or later)
This transfer type is referred to as NBD (Network Block Device) by
VMware.
Keep in mind that the transfer path with this type of backup is over the
network. When compared to VCB transfers using a SAN, NBD-style backups
tend to be slower.
More information can be found in the NetBackup 6.5.2 Documentation

Subject: [Veritas-bu] VMware Consolidated Backup on iSCSI vs NFS
I have checked a number of compatibility guides for both Symantec and
VMware and still can't get a straight yes or no answer on VMware
Consolidated Backup support for Virtual Machines using NFS. The
environment is a NetApp array. Will NetBackup support nfs for virtual
machines with the VCB backups?
If so, is anyone doing it? Any challenges, gotchas?
How about iSCSI...our other option..is anyone using iSCSI yet for VCB
backups? How is it going?
Thanks,
Renee
