Just to add a little to Jeff's comments,  they will not make any engineering changes i.e. no binary fixes to any newly identified problems. As he states they will still try to help, depending on your support level, 'Business Critical' opens more doors .

Typically when vendors say “no support” what they really mean is “best effort without guarantee”.  They’ll often try to assist but once they run into an issue they can’t easily resolve they’ll fall back on “no support” to avoid spending a lot of time.   The downside to waiting long after “no support” to do an upgrade is that the skills become rusty even among the techs that want to help so it becomes harder and harder to get the right answer.

Cant find the document on the web, but to confirm is the 5.1 End Of Support (in other words no more support ever from Symantec) is December 2008?

Just wondered that if you are trying to upgrade to 6.5 AFTER this date, whether Symantec will still support the 5.1 environment?

Could anyone clarify?

Regards

Simon
