Alot may depend on your environment (ie: Storage Library, Tapes, Capacity, ect - you never stated what you had), but 1 full a day, 7 day retention is sufficient and certainly not a waste of storage here.
I would hate to be in a position where you cannot restore an INCR that you really, really need.

I do believe the preferred method is to perform FULL Daily Backups. Also, please remember a full backup purges the logs straight after, which for us, is another bonus.

Most Exchange Admins will tell you this. However, each to their own ..... And if you are happy with your environment Mike, then do not change it :-)

Must say I never had any issue with the full+incr strategy & don't agree full backup every day is best practice, it is a waste of backup window/storage in my book.

I would not say Delicate.... but from a DB+Logs perspective, a full is better to perform, even if you keep the retention short to 1 week.

I have only ever done full backups, following best practice and experience from Exchange 5, 5.5, 2000 and 2003. Not toyed with Ex2k7 yet.

Hello everyone,

Is there any real  problem running a Weekly-Full & Daily-Cumulative-Inc on an Exchange policy?  I've been told  I'm better off doing a FULL backup daily because Exchange is very "delicate".  I'll be glad to hear your comments.

Thanks,
Jorge
