Re: [Veritas-bu] Upgradering to NBU 6.5.2 soon because of Windows2008

The fact is based on this forum there ARE issues with 6.5.2. The tech you get
at Symantec may or may not be familiar with the specific problem you're having
and may or may not stumble across the binary patch that fixes it. There's been
at least one report on this list of an issue that Symantec didn't suggest the
binary. Luckily another user on the list had had the issue and was able to
suggest it.
We're not talking about software and support that is cheap shrink wrapped
stuff. We're talking about Enterprise class software and to that end I for one
am a little over the posts suggesting that bad releases like 6.0 before a late
MP and 6.5.2 aren't really "that bad". People aren't asking for feature
enhancements - they're asking that the product work the way it is supposed to
according to its own documentation and sales pitches.
Ed you help a lot of folks and deserve kudos for it. However, suggesting we
all make nice with Symantec for what are seen as major flaws constantly isn't
helping anyone IMHO.

They're working hard on all the 6.5.2 bugs and not necessarily new features.

"Issues" that I would expect for a major or minor release (not a MP).

I didn't say the product is broken. My experience with VAULT started
happening just after 6.5.2 and I'm pretty convinced is related. This is MY
experience.

Ed: He asked for other people's opinion on 6.5.2 and that's what I did. At
least I gave mine. I think he will be smart enough to reach the right
conclusion on what's best for his scenario based on what other people here
say and what's available in other forums (which I told him).
