I've tested this only for the catalog itself (i.e. veritas\netbackup\db\images) and it works fine.  The only downside of this is that your volume database dosen't make the transtition - when you load the media into the new host they will all look like scratch / the media are no assigned as they should be (although you can restore data).

I have not tried the rest of the Netbackup configuration but as long as the break was clean (Stop Services First) this might work.  Also, I'd install NBU on the 2nd side first to ensure registry changes and any files loaded on the C: make it.

Is it possible (has anyone done this) to take a  6.51 catalog and copy it to another drive (SAN drive) and then re-assign to a new server (hardware upgrade)?   What are the potential problems?     New hardware and upgrading OS from Win 2000 to Win 2003 SP2.

Thank you
